"I got to the end of ARAH #21 and got the idea to use the matching hexagrams bit. I didn't even really know what the connection was between the two characters at the time. But that was the first link. Hexagram 65 of the I Ching (chi chi,) is called "After Completion." It connotes the instability of perfection because the trigram K'an (water) strives to move downwards, while the trigram Li (fire) pushes upwards. I actually chose that hexagram because the symmetry made it easier to remember, but the meaning turned out to be synchronistically apt. Jung would have been amused." - Larry Hama
Another Resolute Review

... this time from movie blogger extraordinaire, Atomic Gadfly. His review was originally posted on his site: http://atomicgadfly.blogspot.com/ and was so dead on, we wanted to promote it here. Enjoy.

Review:

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, a movie that's sure to make Tropic Thunder look like Platoon, is set to open on August 7. But the real G.I. Joe movie of 2009 made its broadcast debut Saturday on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim . That's G.I. Joe: Resolute, and you can watch it here.

Resolute is widely regarded as the Hasbo toy company's apology to Joe fans for the disaster coming this summer, and it's everything Rise of Cobra will not be. In other words, Resolute is a serious military-action drama that respects the source material. Hasbro even brought in comics rockstar Warren Ellis to handle the writing chores.

G.I. Joe Resolute: the Death of Storm Shadow?

ResoluteSo after almost a year of anticipation, the big debut of Resolute came, as a midnight movie special on Adult Swim (Cartoon Network).

To many fans, it was an exciting time to enjoy new animation, new character renderings,  and shoot-em-up action. To the fans of Storm Shadow, it was a dark moment.

The longtime Joe mythos character received probably the darkest character rendition ever for a Joe based cartoon. More evil than Cobra Commander was in Sunbow, DiC, SPYTROOPS, Valor vs Venom, Sigma 6, AND Resolute, Tommy was recreated as a violent, jealous, Snake Eyes-hating instrument of death and vengeance. Their backstory was completely changed, as were the characters of the Hard Master and Snake Eyes. Towards the end of the story, Snake Eyes was forced to kill the evil Storm Shadow , in a very "Kill-Bill" styled fashion.

According to our poll, this has not been well recieved by fans. Storm Shadow has been a "good guy" to the hard core fans for too long to accept this. If you have an opinion to share, click here to join the discussion
