Why Can't Snake Eyes talk?
Snake Eye's vocal cords were severely injured during a rescue mission early in his G.I. Joe career. It is the incident that scarred his face, causing him to wear the mask. He physically CAN talk, but it causes so much pain and agony that he never tries. Only once has the injured man ever tried; when Scarlett lie in a comma after being shot in the head by the Baroness, Snake Eyes struggled and muttered, but eventually gasped out her name at her bedside.
